Our Story
Where two cultures
share one table
The homely restaurant Peipsi Kalapunkt is located on the magical shore of Lake Peipus, in the smallest town in Estonia with a rich history — with the highest cliff and exposed sandstone on the shore on one side and one of the most beautiful sandy beaches on the other.
In family traditions, two cultures have closely intertwined — Estonian and Old Believer-Russian. Such families were called "poluvertsy", hence the rich traditional culinary tradition, with fish dishes smoked on alder wood with nettles and a touch of sugar.
Fish was always prepared in countless variations — always fresh from the lake. Spices were minimal: they would only spoil the taste of Peipus fish.
